Not sure if this is Gadgets or Tech Talk, but here it is:

Need to replace my 75-300mm (non-IS) zoom lens which died about 2 years ago. What's hot under $500 these days? Stick with Canon? Look at Sigma/Tamron/Etc?

Also, I can't believe how cheap CF cards are these days. :D I haven't bought one since I dropped $90 or so for a 1GB SanDisk Ultra II many MANY moons ago.

As mentioned on Twitter I would go for the Canon 70-300 IS USM or the Canon 55-250... Both really good value :D

You could also try one of the superzooms if that is what you like, less lens switching. The Canon 18-200 is pretty cool...
